Baseball Night at the Rink , A Homerun ! $5600 Raised for CMHA Grey Bruce

Meaford, ON — January 29, 2026 — The Meaford Knights hosted the Bradford Bulls in an electric Baseball Night at the Rink that had it all — thrilling hockey, community spirit, and an overwhelming show of support for mental health. In front of an energized crowd decked out in baseball jerseys and caps, the Knights battled to a 6–5 overtime victory over the visiting Bulls, capped off by a heroic winner in extra time scored by #14 Mitchell Berens .
Baseball Meets Hockey for a Cause
What started as a creative twist on a classic junior hockey matchup quickly turned into one of the most memorable nights of the season. Inspired by the nationwide excitement for baseball — particularly the Toronto Blue Jays’ incredible season — fans brought the ballpark atmosphere into the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre on Thursday, January 29.
From the moment the puck dropped at 7:30 p.m., the energy was high as supporters cheered on the Knights in baseball jerseys, caps, and team colours. It was more than a themed game night — it was a celebration of community, sport, and giving back.

A Back-and-Forth Battle
The on-ice action lived up to the hype. The Knights and Bulls traded goals throughout regulation, with neither side willing to surrender momentum. As the clock ticked down, Meaford’s Mitchell Berens delivered the clutch game-tying goal in the final minute, sending the crowd into a frenzy. In overtime, the Knights struck again — sealing the comeback and sparking wild celebrations from the bench and stands alike.
Raising Funds and Awareness for CMHA Grey Bruce
But the night wasn’t just about goals and wins — it was about making a difference. The Baseball Night at the Rink was organized as a fundraiser for Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce (CMHA Grey Bruce), an organization dedicated to providing life-changing mental health supports across the region. Through ticket sales, 50/50 draws, raffles, and a special one-night jersey auction, the Knights and their fans raised an incredible $5,600 for CMHA Grey Bruce’s programs.
These funds will help support youth-focused initiatives that use sport to spark conversations about mental health, evidence-based training like Mental Health First Aid and SafeTALK, and programs designed to build confidence and connections throughout the community.
Community Partners Step Up Big
This night wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of local sponsors who stepped up to help support both the event and the cause:
Royal LePage Locations North Brokerage — Grand Slam Sponsor
West River Design & Build — Base Hit Sponsor
Free Spirit Forest School — Base Hit Sponsor
CMHA Grey Bruce — Event partner and beneficiary
A special thank you goes out to these partners for their commitment to community wellness and youth engagement, as well as to every fan who came out and contributed to the success of the night.
A Night to Remember
Baseball Night at the Rink will go down as one of the signature moments of the Knights’ 2025–26 season — not just for the dramatic overtime win, but for the way it united hockey fans, families, sponsors, and community members around a great cause. From thrilling on-ice action to record-setting fundraising, the Knights showed what sport can do when a community comes together with heart, spirit, and a little baseball flair.
